Why
pass AB 376 to ban the shark fin trade?
Every year, tens of millions of sharks are killed, mostly,
just for their fins. Many shark populations are depleted by
90% or more, with a third of species threatened with
extinction because of the global demand for their fins.
Sharks are of critical importance to the health of the
oceans because, as apex predators, they help keep ocean
life in balance.
Hawaii, Oregon and Washington have passed laws to ban shark
fin to stop the slaughter of sharks that threatens the
health of our ocean. Please join commercial fishermen, fish
and game wardens, business leaders, marine scientists, and
Asian Pacific Americans to support the California ban on
shark fin. Call your state senator today to vote YES on AB
376.
